It is named after the explorer Simon Fraser who explored the Vancouver area. SFU is a comprehensive public research university in North America. Its human-computer interaction HCI, computing science, and business are among the top universities in the world. Ranked 264th in the 2019QS World University Rankings, 16th in the QS World Young University Rankings for universities established under 50 years, and 1st in Maclean’s Magazine in Canada for comprehensive universities in 2020.
